Tutorial for checking FTP / SFTP publishing

Numento uses a standard system of communication with the server of your hosting called FTP / SFTP Publishing problems can be due to :

  1. a bad setting of the FTP information (most frequent)

  2. a temporary malfunction at your hosting company

  3. a block on your computer (rare)

In order to find the origin of the problem independently of Numento we suggest that you get an FTP software (Filezilla works very well on Mac and Windows https://filezilla-project.org/download.php?type=client ) and follow the 3 following steps

Warning

Technical Support does NOT provide technical support for FTP publishing issues that are not within the control of the Intuisphere company that designed Numento

1 - Connection to the server of your hosting.

Fill in the FTP software

  1. The name of the FTP server called FTP Server / Host (usually this is in the form: ftp.monserveurftp.com or as an ip address: 12.34.56.789 )

  2. Your FTP login (Login)

  3. Your FTP password

Error

If an error occurs, contact your hosting provider because your settings are incorrect or your hosting may be temporarily unavailable.

2 - Sending a test file to the server

Create a text file that you will name hello.txt which will contain for example the text : Hello Word ! Thanks to the FTP software, you will select this file and send it on your hosting

Error

If an error occurs, check that the folder on the server is valid and matches the folder with write permissions. If the error persists, ask your web host for details about the folder where you should put your test file.

3 - Accessing your test file ( hello.txt ) on the Internet

Your file has been successfully uploaded to your server! The last step is to check its accessibility from your favorite web browser (Chrome, Firefox, Safari, Microsoft Edge,…)

http://www.monsite.com/hello.txt

Your browser should therefore display the content of your test file: “Hello World”

Error

If an error occurs after step 2 has been completed correctly, contact your web host to check in which folder to upload your test file

4 - Setting up the Numento software.

When the 3 previous steps have been successfully completed, enter the FTP/SFTP parameters in Numento

Tip

It is the FTP folder where you have put your test file that you will have to transfer in Numento in the field Remote FTP folder
